Child Pick Up Protocol

23 Sep 2019 by Klopko, Kristen

Hello Parents,

For parents with younger students, we love that most of you pop in to the studio to claim your child. If your child is going home with another parent by carpool we also love that you inform us in advance of pickup that they will be going home with someone else.

Sometimes parents run late due to traffic etc. Please take the time to talk with your student about waiting in the front or back lobby until you arrive. I know the bridge is an exciting nearby feature that beckons to your child but it is important to let your child know that they should not exit the building until their parent or guardian is present. On many occasions dancers have sat in on the next class with a teacher until their parent arrives. Please let your dancer know that this is an option as well if you should run late on picking them up.

Although we have a glass front door for many students to wait inside the lobby and see when their parents arrive to pick them up, we teachers don’t always get the goodbye that tells us that the students has been picked up safely —- particularly late at night when some dancers are the last to leave. Please also take a moment to talk with your child (especially if they have late night classes that end at 9pm) and ask them to please inform the teacher that their parent has arrived. Even a hollar “This is dancer name…Goodnight” from the front lobby at the end of the night helps. We just want to make sure everyone gets home safely.
