Stomach Illnesses

Greetings Parents & Dancers,

I have been informed that a school in Burlington sent a letter to parents yesterday (Wed Sept 18th) regarding a possible outbreak of the Norovirus within that particular school. The letter states that within the past 24 hours between the 17th and 18th of September a large number of students of the school have become ill with a stomach sickness. They also sent parents information regarding Norovirus which you can read here:

The letter stated that the school would be closing their cafeteria as a precautionary measure however they do NOT believe it to be related to any food products purchased by the school.

As our dancers all attend from different schools and in efforts to prevent any potential additional spread should this in fact be Norovirus we will be doing an extra precautionary disinfection of all the highly touched surfaces, equipments and flooring in the dance studio prior to this evening’s classes and will ensure this will be the case before every new day. We routinely clean the studio and equipment after use but we will be extra vigilant in light of this potential risk.

As it is the 3rd week of school this is the time where we often start to see dancers missing anyways as they begin to spread colds, flu, RSv and Covid during the fall and winter season as a result of being consistently indoors and in close proximity to their colleagues in classes. We do ask that you monitor your children’s health and inform the studio via email or by phone if your child will be away from dance due to illness . We also ask that if your child has been sick please do not send them to class unless they have been symptom free for a minimum of 24 hours.

Please also note that alcohol based hand sanitizers are not effective against Norovirus and so we recommend dancers wash their hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water.

We appreciate you taking extra precautions at this time and throughout the dance season!
